About Cittaslow

Cittaslow is the international accreditation network for municipalities that provide the highest quality living environment, landscape, local produce, hospitality, natural environment, infrastructure, cultural history and identity preservation. Only municipalities with less than 50,000 residents can be accredited. The origins of Cittaslow lie in Orvieto (Italy).

Monitoring, preserving, strengthening and promoting local identity is of utmost importance in these distinctive regions, particularly in the present age of urbanisation and homogeneity. Residents and visitors of a Cittaslow are able to enjoy life and a high level of hospitality at a slower pace.
